The Journey to QB
Like many, Jonathan found himself unfulfilled in the rat race to retirement on the corporate hamster wheel. He knew there had to be “more” to life than his 7-to-5 W-2 job — and he found that “more” by building a business with two of his best friends.
During his travels around the country working for one of the top general contractors, Jonathan met Tom on an $850M highway, bridge, and tunnel project in Louisville, KY. They immediately formed a best-friend, brother-like bond through their analytical thinking and shared insecurities.
While in Louisville, Jonathan bought his first property — simply because he was stingy and didn’t want to pay rent to someone else anymore. He purchased it through an online auction and used the “live-in-flip” and “house-hacking” strategies. That first property sparked a passion for real estate and pushed him to re-align his career.
To get re-aligned, Jonathan left his high-paying W-2 job to take a third of his salary at a property-technology (prop-tech) startup. It was there he met Bolanle and built an instant best-friend, sister-like connection through their intense work ethic and shared faith.
Having started his own real estate journey, Jonathan recognized the hardest part of investing was finding a quality general contractor he could trust. Leveraging Tom and Bolanle’s backgrounds in general contracting and technology, the vision of Quality Builders — a GC-Tech company — was born.
